Year 1 - Robins
Welcome to Robins Class!
Our class is made up of 26 kind, friendly and respectful year 1’s! We are extremely hard-working in Robins Class and we like to have lots of fun, hands-on learning. Our morning lessons are fairly structured and include maths, literacy and phonics. In maths we are always developing our counting and estimating skills, we are also becoming familiar with all four operations (+, -, x, ÷). In literacy we are using our sounds to write a range of text types including stories, newspapers, diary entries and recounts.
In the afternoon we like to discover new skills in science and learn more about interesting events from the past, or other cultures and interesting places through our topic. We have some extremely engaging topics in year 1 such as Australia, The Great Fire of London, The Queen and Go Green. We have Physical Education (PE) twice a week where we develop a range of skills such as throwing and catching and learning rules of team sports, as well as developing life skills such as team work and communication.
We have homework set each week, this includes spellings and a topic based range of activities to choose from. We have the opportunity to share our homework with the rest of the class during show and tell.
